Liability for Content

I make every effort to keep the information on this website current, but accept no liability for its accuracy, completeness or timeliness. As a service provider, I am responsible for my own content on these pages under the general laws, in particular the German Digital Services Act (Digitale-Dienste-Gesetz, DDG) and Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act).

I am not obligated to monitor third-party information transmitted or stored on this website or to investigate circumstances indicating illegal activity. Obligations to remove or block the use of information under the general laws remain unaffected. Liability in this respect is only possible from the time I become aware of a specific infringement. Upon becoming aware of such infringements, I shall remove the content promptly.

Liability for Links

This website contains links to external third-party websites over whose content I have no influence. I therefore cannot accept any liability for such third-party content. The respective provider or operator of the linked pages is always responsible for their content. At the time of linking, the linked pages were checked for possible legal violations, and no unlawful content was apparent. However, permanent monitoring of linked pages is not reasonable without concrete indications of an infringement. Upon becoming aware of any infringement, I shall remove such links promptly.

Affiliate Links (Advertising)

Some links on this website are affiliate links (partner links) and are marked as such, for example with the label “Advertising” or an asterisk (*). If you buy a product or sign up for a service via such a link, I may receive a commission from the respective provider. This does not cost you anything extra. Recommendations and reviews on this website reflect my own assessment. For information on data processing in connection with affiliate links, please see the Privacy Policy below.

Copyrights

The content and works created by me on these pages are governed by German copyright law. Duplication, processing, distribution or any form of exploitation beyond the scope of copyright law requires my prior written consent. Downloads and copies of these pages are permitted for private, non-commercial use only. Where content on these pages was not created by me, the copyrights of third parties are respected; third-party content is marked as such. Should you nevertheless become aware of a copyright infringement, please let me know. Upon becoming aware of any infringement, I shall remove such content promptly.

Privacy Policy

The protection of your personal data is important to me. This website can generally be used without providing personal data. Where I process personal data (for example name, address or e-mail address), I do so in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). This Privacy Policy is a translation provided for convenience; in case of discrepancies, the German version (pages 4 to 6 of the German disclaimer) prevails.

1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the GDPR is:
Marc-Christian Jäger M.A.
Bornholmer Straße 85
10439 Berlin, Germany
Phone: +49 30 41722364
E-mail: info@marcjaeger.net

2. Hosting and server log files

When you visit this website, the web server automatically records information transmitted by your browser (server log files): IP address, date and time of access, page or file requested, amount of data transferred, referrer URL, browser type and version, and operating system. This processing is necessary to deliver the website and to ensure its stability and security. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and trouble-free operation). Log files are deleted after 7 days; they are not merged with other data sources.

This website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM - Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the provider.

3. Contacting me (contact form, e-mail, telephone)

If you contact me via the contact form, by e-mail or by telephone, I process the data you provide (e.g. name, e-mail address, telephone number, content of your message and any texts or files you send) in order to handle your enquiry and any follow-up questions. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures (e.g. a quotation for a translation), and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in handling enquiries effectively). Providing your data is voluntary, but without the details needed to reply (in particular a way to contact you) I cannot handle your enquiry.

I delete your enquiry once it has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply. If a contract is concluded, I retain the data for the duration of the statutory retention periods (e.g. under commercial and tax law). Data entered in the contact form is transmitted in encrypted form (TLS). To protect against automated submissions, the contact form contains a simple arithmetic question and a hidden honeypot field. No external captcha service is used.

Please note that data transmission over the internet (e.g. communication by e-mail) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible. Please send confidential documents to me in encrypted form where possible, or agree a secure transmission method with me beforehand.

4. Cookies and similar technologies (consent)

Information is stored on your device or accessed from it (e.g. by cookies) only with your consent (Section 25(1) TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), unless access is strictly necessary for a service you have expressly requested (Section 25(2) TDDDG). On this website, this currently concerns audience measurement with Google Analytics (see below). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future or change your selection: Open cookie settings. There you can make your selection under “Statistics (Google Analytics)” or withdraw your consent with “Reject all”. The “Cookie settings” link in the footer opens the same window at any time. The lawfulness of processing carried out until withdrawal remains unaffected. You can also prevent cookies from being stored in your browser settings; in that case, not all functions of the website may be available.

Consent management: To obtain and manage your consent, I use the open-source tool “CookieConsent” (version 3.1, MIT licence). It is hosted on this website itself; no data is transmitted to the developer or to any other third party in the process. I store your selection in a cookie named “cc_cookie” on your device (duration: 182 days) so that you are not asked again on every page view. This cookie is technically necessary (Section 25(2) TDDDG). If the purpose of the processing changes, I will ask for your decision again.

5. Google Analytics

If you have consented, this website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). Its purpose is to evaluate the use of this website, to compile reports on website activity and to improve the offering. Google Analytics uses cookies or similar technologies (e.g. local storage) that allow your browser to be recognised and your use of the website to be analysed. In particular, pages viewed, time spent, origin of visitors, approximate location (region), device, browser and operating system details and interactions on the website are recorded. According to Google, IP addresses are not logged or stored in Google Analytics 4.

The following cookies are used: “_ga” (distinguishes visitors; duration: 2 years) and “_ga_*” (stores the session state in Google Analytics 4; duration: 2 years).

The legal basis is your consent (Section 25(1) TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Google Analytics is not loaded without your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future: Open cookie settings. There you can make your selection under “Statistics (Google Analytics)” or withdraw your consent with “Reject all”. The “Cookie settings” link in the footer opens the same window at any time.

Google Analytics is operated on my behalf; a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Google. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, so an adequacy decision of the European Commission applies to this transfer; EU Standard Contractual Clauses may apply in addition. The retention period is 2 months for event data and 14 months for user data. If there is new user activity, the retention period for user data is reset. Besides withdrawing your consent, you can prevent the collection of the data generated by Google Analytics by installing the browser add-on available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Further information on data use by Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

6. Affiliate links (partner programmes)

This website contains affiliate links to Amazon PartnerNet. If you click such a link, you are forwarded to the partner’s website. In this process, the partner or partner network may process information such as your IP address, browser and device information, the referring page and the time of the click, and may set a cookie on your device in order to attribute the visit to my website and to calculate the commission. The respective partner or network operator is responsible for this processing; I myself do not receive any personal data, only commission statements. Please refer to the partner’s privacy notice for details.

The affiliate links on my pages are plain links; no banners, scripts or tracking pixels of the partners are loaded. Data is therefore only transmitted to the partner once you click the link. The legal basis for the linking is my legitimate interest in financing this website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Whether cookies are set on the destination site depends on the consent procedure there.

7. Links to social networks and external profiles

These pages contain icons linking to my profiles or contact options on Facebook, Microsoft Teams, ProZ.com and Xing. These are plain links, not embedded plugins (there is no “Like” button or share function), so no data is transmitted to these providers merely by visiting these pages. Only when you click an icon do you leave this website and your browser connects to the provider’s server, transmitting technically required data such as your IP address, browser information, the time of access and the page you came from. If you are logged in with the provider, it may be able to attribute the visit to your account. I have no influence on further processing; the privacy policy of the respective provider applies. The legal basis for the linking is my legitimate interest in being easy to reach and in presenting myself externally (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Facebook is provided in the EU by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland (https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/). I also operate a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MarcJaegerUebersetzungen); for data processing when visiting that page, in particular for statistics (“Page Insights”), I am jointly responsible with Meta (Art. 26 GDPR); see https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/page_controller_addendum. Microsoft Teams is provided by Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland (https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-gb/privacystatement). If you write to me via Teams, I process your message to handle your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). ProZ.com and Xing are operated by their respective providers under their own responsibility.

8. Disclosure of data and transfers to third countries

Your personal data is only disclosed to third parties if you have consented (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), if this is necessary for performing a contract or for pre-contractual measures (point (b)), if I am legally obliged to do so (point (c)) or if I have a legitimate interest (point (f)). Service providers I use (e.g. hosting) process data only on my behalf and on the basis of a contract pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA (in particular to the USA), this only takes place on the basis of an adequacy decision of the European Commission or appropriate safeguards (e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

9. Your rights

You have the right to obtain information from me about the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR) and the right to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).

Right to object: Where I process data on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to this processing at any time (Art. 21 GDPR). Please simply contact me using the details above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for me is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany, www.datenschutz-berlin.de.

10. Objection to advertising e-mails

I expressly object to the use of the contact details published in my legal notice (Impressum) by third parties for sending advertising and information material that has not been expressly requested. I reserve the right to take legal action in the event of unsolicited advertising, for example spam e-mails.

11. Currentness of this Privacy Policy

Status: November 2026. I reserve the right to amend this Privacy Policy so that it always complies with current legal requirements or to reflect changes to my services.
