How do you generally correct texts?
I usually correct texts using the “Track Changes” function of Microsoft Word. If you wish, I can also carry out cor­rec­tions with a red pencil or pen and use the stan­dard Ger­man proof­read­ing marks (DIN 16511). (Please leave a wide right mar­gin for notes in the latter case.)

Do you also correct texts applying either the old or the new Ger­man spelling rules?
Yes, I offer both of them. Of course, all my cor­rec­tions will be consistent in apply­ing either the old or the new spell­ing rules. However, it is im­por­tant that you tell me before­hand if you want to have a text cor­rected ac­cording to the old spelling rules.

How do you correct trans­la­tions?
I compare the English source text with the German trans­la­tion. Any mistakes and errors will be corrected. In addition, the text will be checked for spelling mis­takes, punc­tu­ation errors, style, con­sis­tency, etc. You can read more about this here: Proof­read­ing and editing.

What type of cor­rec­tions of trans­la­tions don't you provide as part of your service?

• Trans­la­tions into German from other languages than English,
• Trans­la­tions into German without the English source text,
• Specialist trans­la­tions into German in areas that do not belong to my fields of expertise,
• Trans­la­tions that have been produced using a trans­la­tion program (e.g. Google Translate, Babelfish, etc.), or
• Trans­la­tions containing an abnormally large number of errors and mis­trans­la­tions.

Can I visit you during office hours?
I work in my private home and am not set up for customer traffic. Contacting me by e-mail, phone or instant messenger is usually completely sufficient to discuss and meet your re­quire­ments. If you have very large documents to be translated, you can also send them to me by post (CD-ROM, DVD, USB stick). If you live in Berlin, I can also collect the data storage devices from your place. There is also the pos­si­bil­ity to set up a cloud storage on the Internet (Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox) from which I could then download all the needed data.
